Thursday’s Toast: Hats Off To A June Bride

Sometimes life just gets a tad bit sweeter, as was the case on a special day back in June. Our bride, Faith Dugan, happens be a fabulous local wedding Photographer. So, when we had the opportunity to design her wedding flowers we jumped for joy! …Literally hopped. Jefferson & Faith tied the knot at The Glen Manor, and this  stately venue was the perfect backdrop for a pink color palette, accented by subtle hints of green and plum.

What An Entrance!

Faith’s vendors made it a party in itself! The savvy Stephanie Frazier Grimm, of Couture Parties, set the stage with playful, and chic, details that made us fall even more in love with this great couple.  I mean really, look at this adorable message box for Faith & Jefferson? We were so tempted to leave a little love post simply saying, “XOXO”.

How Cute Is This?

Look below at the great delight of color. Shades of Pinks, with hints of greens, is such a popular color palette because they play so nicely off of various moods, designs, and textures. Never underestimate these colors. Yes, they can represent the timeless classic appeal, but it can also set a mood of modern, lush, vibrant romance by the sly choice of linens, tableware…or in this case, a great cocktail chair! Why must we always leave these great parties?

 The cocktail hour was a sophisticated, playful design set in sterling grays, pinks, and subtle plums. As the ballroom, and interior, staged a more elegant aesthetic. The tall glass cylinders allowed our bold hues to really stand out next to the strong linens below. This is a smart design element that allows guests to revel all the marvelous details abound. ….Now, notice a soft hue below? Ormonde productions smartly added up lighting to set the romantic mood of all these shades of pink.The Glen is such a regal spot, of open space, that there was a need for some strong focal points to draw the eye in. And of course, our design team just gets giddy over big blooms! How lucky were we?  These lustrous pieces were full of fresh blossoms, spilling over, as their stood guard over the preciously pink cake by Scrumptions.  Eye spy a Fleur-de-lis…

What a marvelous pink wedding! …Sigh, no matter how many times we design door wreaths, I still take sheer delight in seeing the end result! Don’t they just make such a statement?!

Thursday’s Toast: An Orange Crush

A Sweet Twist On By-The-Sea Theme

There’s something so playful about the vibrant colors orange & yellow.

The real treat is when a savvy couple (like Lindsay & Scott) set the tone of the party ,with these bold colors, for guests to enjoy all evening long. Today’s toast was a fabulously fun wedding at Blithewold. Playful and lively outside during the cocktail hours,  elegant & gardenesque inside during dinner and dancing.

It was such a treat to incorporate white blooming branches cascading over copper lanterns inside the tent. The feel was very elegant, and outdoorsy. Our team added the element of height through the fun, surprising texture of ferns. Twilight-in-the-garden!

Soft browns allowed the bold yellow and orange hues to stand out nicely. Exquisite Events (as always) did a fantastic job incorporating in copper lanterns and twinkled sheers to create the perfect outdoor-in oasis. I adore this long table below, I feel it sums up the whole feel of this wedding…welcoming, tasteful, and gracious.

A Dinner Party-Esque Setting

Do you spot the POPs of orange color? With such a string color as orange and yellow, its subtlety was a necessity. To draw in the natural/earthy aesthetic of this wedding a variety of greens, whites, and various textures kept our lead colors soft…but not dull. Now, the cocktail hour shouted “Let’s Play!” with its yellow full blooms and festive orange linens.

Didn’t I tell you it screams “Garden meets Party”? …And we’re talking a stylish, loving, exquisite party. So cheers! To a stupendous party, savvy tent design, and one breathtaking view!

Thursday’s Toast: Bring On Summer!

Hello Sun, nice to feel you.

So, here’s the skinny…we love writing to you! We also love our bustling season, so to share the love equally we switched over to good old Thursday. This way, we share last weekend’s parties with this week’s readers. Hooray! Today we are mad over summer! Do you feel the sun’s warmth? It’s hot already, and luckily for us we are saddled right up against the cool blue Atlantic.

We’re digging details, enjoying nature’s vivid colors, and taking notes on all our cute couples’ style. We just couldn’t resist a post on the pretty things about summer.

We (Heart) Beach

What is it about this season that makes you want to sip the most divine cocktail, while dressed to the nines in color, with an ocean view in front of you?…Add a boat and we are in heaven! From the adorable groomsmen styles to the refreshing twist on water, we say “Bring on the season!”.

Water Never Looked So Good

The Cluster Of Things

So, we have a secret to share… we love clutter. Well, really more like clusters of lovely blooms scattered daintily about a tabletop.

Clutter, clusters, clumps of tiny details, divine textures all placed around candlelight, wine glasses, large designs…anywhere! We just L-O-V-E colorful, sweet clusters of flower arrangements.

These pint size vases needed a day in the spotlight. They may be petite, but they pack a powerful punch!  They add a striking appeal down near the wine glasses, and candlelight. What a treat for guests! Look at how these delicate blooms are set aglow next to the mercury glass votives. Ahhhh….

A Feast For The Eyes

From cut crystal to modern glass cylinders, they add another element of detail that always make a design go from pretty to spectacular. It is wonderful to show off the finer details for guests, all the while filling the table with color. Below we got ourselves into a “twist” over these stems.

A Big Punch For A Small Accent

The magic of our lovely little friends is they set a mood day or night. Now you know why we love our clusters! The romance and femininity of the lunch table below is so inviting, I am left pondering why we never stay for the party?

Tuesday’s Toast: Tantilizing Textures

Well, Hello Tuesday!

We just love this day because it allows us to toast a deliciously divine wedding from the weekend. 

Blooming Bouquet

So, guess where we were? No, seriously guess! Here’s a hint: it’s exotic, abundantly green, and a designer’s dream:

THE BOTANICAL CENTER

Kirsten & Hans (this weekend’s toast) created a great day full of whimsy, abundance, and texture.

These two were a delight!

And the vision of eclectic spring colors swathed in texture made them a favorite on our design floor.

From the vendors to the couple, their wasn’t a detail that they hadn’t thought out perfectly. We were so  happy to be apart of it all.

Oh, and the use of colors. Now, you know how we love our color, and when you let us play that with all sorts of natural textures…We -Are -In-Heaven!

A SPRING PACKAGE WRAPPED PERFECTLY IN MOSS

We played with succulents, fastened in orange orchids & tulips, molded bright spring moss, and gleefully topped off the look in abundant spring blooms of purples, yellows, and greens everywhere we could.

What a treat for spring blooms (and for us).

The words ‘Playful’ and ‘Sophisticated’ were the perfect marriage for such color and detail.

Notice the rosemary placed ever so sweetly on every guest’s napkin? Intoxicating Scents Galore!

 We just can’t get enough of the bold play of color and the natural details that soften the look. But Kirsten & Hans’ lovely signs were our perfect pick of the evening.

Oh, What A Smashing Good Week!

What a lovely week here at Stoneblossom…with Kate & William’s wedding on our mind, we have been (splendidly) up to our eyeballs in Orchids. A flower as majestic and magical as they come!

On Monday, Dennis made his show stopping appearance on FOX Providence’s Rhode Show, delighting us all with his expertise on designing a royal tablescape fit for a king. Bravo Dennis! Now, just don’t leave us for your own t.v. series.

By Wednesday we were knees deep in white, sultry orchids, dark plum callas, and feathers galore (sense a theme?) for the big reveal at FOX Providence’s City Bride Event last night at the Biltmore Hotel.

Ooh…the dresses were divine and the city lights were delightful!

The night’s big reveal of one special couple winning a great wedding called for sultry & sleek designs. Our take on modern majestic, delicate orchids and an abundance of candlelight (of course).

Something Special for Your Bridesmaids

We just love flowers, everything about them! I’m sure that’s quite obvious, but we feel it can’t be said enough! That’s why today’s post is all about flowers for your bridesmaids.

A great way to add a splash of color to the ceremony site is with the flowers that your bridesmaids will hold. Some brides prefer neutral colors, while others really like to add pops of fun and vibrant colors.

We’ve seen some really unique bouquet concepts over the years. We’ve designed weddings where each bridesmaid holds a different bouquet, but all designed with similar colors. We’ve also designed weddings where the Maid of Honor holds something a bit different than the other girls. And more commonly, we’ve created similar bouquets for all the bridesmaids in the line. It doesn’t matter what the concept or color is, bridesmaids bouquets are just another place for a fun detail and splash of color.

Meet Heidi

We are so very excited about today’s blog post. One of our lovely brides, Heidi Boeckmann, is getting married on June 18, 2011 at the Belle Mer’s fabulous salon. We asked her to be our first “guest blogger” and tell us about her wedding planning experience. Take a look at what she had to say:

“Eighteen months seems like an extraordinary amount of time to plan a wedding but here I am five months to go to the big day with my endless “to do” list wondering how I will get it all done. My fiancé & I are both originally from NY but met in Boston where we currently live. When it came time to picking where to get married we wanted to make it a “mini-destination” wedding & knew the charming seaside town of Newport, RI was the perfect place. Belle Mer was the first venue we visited & we fell in love!

After securing the venue, I told myself to enjoy the engagement bliss & holidays before jumping into the planning – who was I kidding! I passed one magazine stand & left with 30 magazines and began my wedding inspiration book.

Dresses, flowers, cakes, favors and oh so much more – I couldn’t get enough and was seeing that there was just so much to choose from! How would I ever narrow it all down? Choosing a color palette seemed to be my biggest challenge and would determine so many of the décor plans. I fell in love with a bright purple gown by Amsale for my attendants and started from there. I wanted to achieve a “beach chic” atmosphere for the wedding & ended up with bright purple, navy, with accents of aqua.

I wanted décor to make an all white venue feel more comfortable. I envision hammered silver which reminded me of the summer, soft pillows with modern designs, pop’s of color with interesting accents such as a garden stool next to the outdoor furniture. The below became my inspiration for designing the entire wedding.

Décor has been the most fun and creative aspect in the planning process. When it came time to choosing vendors to help with this aspect I looked no further then working with Joyce & The Stoneblossom Team. If the web site doesn’t give you enough inspiration to plan every celebration of life here on out then going to her studio will. It was beautiful & anyone who takes pride in how their workplace presents itself online or in person I knew they would do a spectacular job decorating my wedding. Stepping foot into the Stoneblossom studio I saw many of my inspiration items in person available for rent. It was so exciting to see so many items that could be incorporated into our wedding floral design. I felt like a kid in a candy store.

So here I was with my inspiration file sitting in this beautiful studio torn about what to do…Do I go bold with jewel tones to match my girl’s dresses or stick with the all white décor of my venue and keep it simple? After seeing an all white wedding Joyce had done I knew I had my answer. With Joyce’s help we decided the pop of color would be my bouquet in a sea of large white beautiful blooms.

After Joyce had organized all my thoughts into a single style I knew she & I would have a great time with getting my wedding floral design in place.  Every style I said I loved she had an image of her previous work to show me as an example.  She read my mind on what I envisioned and couldn’t have been more helpful with putting together an overall look that will make our special day even more beautiful.”

 

Details, Details, Details!

We feel that the best way to make your wedding over-the-top is by paying close attention to all the small details. It is almost always all the little extra things that will leave your guests gabbing about how spectacular your wedding was.

At Stoneblossom, we just love details. We love incorporating a little extra glam into everything we do. Starting at your ceremony, you can jazz up the area with pretty blossoms and bows! Why not greet your guests with little paper cones that are filled with pretty petals to shower the bride and groom? Take a look at some of my favorite photos of ceremony details.

Details do not have to stop at the ceremony, why not carry the fabulous trend to the reception? I’m sure your guests would love to find a small box of chocolate on their dinner napkin. Or perhaps you could tuck a small flower in their napkin. Whatever you do, your guests will surely notice and will chat about your wonderful wedding for the days to come!
