Thursday’s Toast: Oh, Those Chic City Brides!

You know when a sophisticated couple mixes it up a bit?

Well, we love this! On the heels of our seaside summer post, this Thursday’s toast is all about opulence, and elegance. We can’t help but think of really hot, strappy pink Jimmy Choos while looking at this wedding!

Colors Never Looked So Sexy

Krista & Dan’s wedding, at the Providence Westin Hotel, was all about city, summer glamour in the stunning hues of fuchsia, plum, and red. All offset stylishly by the clean look of platinum and white. Oh, the look was so cosmopolitan.

Take a good look left at the wonderful play on texture, and the perfect marriage (of course) of the soft, delicate appeal of orchids accented by the festive, full appeal of peonies. Who said modern was too much?!

Our metropolitan couple brought in a great team to enhance their luxe vision from Ormonde Productions to Kristin Spencer Photography, guaranteeing no detail would go unnoticed…by the guests or afterwards by the couple! We added our signature “pop” of color everywhere you turned. Seriously…see these chargers from Rentals Unlimited below? Do you understand why we keep thinking of pretty shoes?!  We just can’t help ourselves!

Details, Details, Details...They Go A Long Way!

Platinum & white reigned gallantly over the tables. If you look closely, you’ll notice we infused a very subtle flutter of hot pink (look at the petals on the peonies) into these breathtaking, varying centerpieces.

A Clean Sophisticated Appeal

What made it really fun on the design floor was the amount of thought that went into all details of this wedding. We had color popping in the cocktail area, shimmer & opulence in the ballroom, and an enjoyable amount of elegant touches to play with all over. Look at this mix of reds & fuchsia blooms trailing down a cake from Scrumptions, Divine!

Clean Lines & Delicate Textures

The whole look was magical! But the real treat was showing off how pink compliments red and plum hues. Add in the platinum accents, and you have a very clean-modern look. The key is to let the details show themselves off well. Our team stacked, layered, and spaced out the varying elements so each one had a moment to shine. Just look at all the wonderful detail below on the head table, the tall glass cylinders and candle sticks gave height, as well as visual space for all the special details to stand out.It was such a spectacular event, and it is such a pleasure to show off this fun loving couple’s high style celebration!  We sure are some lucky ducks here at Stoneblossom!

So, Cheers to our happy couple and their spectacular, sparkling wedding!

Tuesday’s Toast: A Luxe Garden Escape At Rosecliff

A Magnificent Couple

The perfect couple got married this past Memorial Day weekend at Rosecliff, in Newport. Paula & Evan envisioned a new twist on summer luxury.

With the delightful collaboration of Elissa Held, NY event planner extraordinaire, we gleefully transformed Rosecliff Mansion into a turn of the century french garden theme.

The opportunity to work with varying elements from vintage bird cages to charming cherub sculptures, left us in the most joyful of moods as we juxtaposed textures, and weaved in ivy & lush garden flowers.

How divine are these tiny details of sparrows hovering over the flourish of the script above?!

Or this magnificent attention to detail with our french inspired moss overlay holding ‘court’ underneath these whimsical escort cards…s-p-l-e-n-d-i-d.

A Very Creative Idea

The real treat was in all the tiny details, as we always love to weave into our designs. Notice the textures of the linens balanced so gracefully with the abundance of the roses, peonies, and ivy (plus oh-so many more spring blooms). And the vintage & french elements that tied the whole theme together so perfectly.

The Romance Of A Garden Indoors

No detail was overlooked! The gold rimmed wine glasses complimented Rosecliff’s ballroom, as varying centerpieces were adorned all over to create a stately appeal. Do you spy the stunning, monogrammed chair covers and glass beaded charger plates?

Adorning A Statue

The height of our centerpieces allowed us to play with the flowers! And oh boy, did we play! We were excited (ecstatic) to add complimenting, big, fresh blooms to a variety of eye-catching areas all around these french inspired statues. Our design team relished the creative production of weaving ivy all about the vintage trellis’ and showing it off, as it trickled elegantly down the sculptures, past the fragrant & colorful blooms.

The Graceful Appeal Of Height

And what a glorious day it was! We were so happy for Paula & Evan (look at the runner below…spectacular). The sun was shining, and all the glorious purple/lilac elements stood out brilliantly against the backdrop of a vivid blue ocean view.

A Breathtaking View

So, Hat’s off to Paula & Evan! We wish you many wonderful years to come, and many wonderful “thank you’s” for allowing us to take place in such a glorious event. Cheers!

Tuesday’s Toast: Wonderful Weddings One Week At A Time!

tuesday’s toast

Spring has sprung here at Stoneblossom. It took awhile for those pesky April showers to disappear, but now the sun is shining and it’s glorious!

What better way to celebrate our season than with a toast...every Tuesday! A Hats off (of sorts) to our most adorable, most wonderful, and most divine weddings of the season.

What did we love about the April celebration of Aleksandra & Scott at Castle Hill Inn? Everything! This lovely bride didn’t mind a few spring showers on her day. Nope, she just savored the moment, and we fell in love with the whole darn wedding.

Soft purple tones added the perfect splash of color to our spring design, as lightly patterned orchids gave it that perfect POP.

Oh, the delight of color! Those purple and violetsthere is no doubt purple can be romantic, and a fun modern take on soft colors.

…Add some blues to the tables and you have Spring!

Aleksandra & Scott’s day seemed perfect for the mood they wanted to set.  To be under a tent of white with hints of Spring everywhere… we wish we could have stayed to dance!   “Hello Spring, meet intimate and inviting.”

We love this shot (below) taken by our favorite Snap! happy girls (thank you talented gals). We’re simply giddy over the steel gray against the various shades of purple.

No toast is complete without honoring the bride & groom. So, cheers Aleksandra & Scott!

We loved every moment of designing those romantic flowers, and may we say you are a beautiful couple.

See you next Tuesday!

Pure Bliss: Celebrations!

We love weddings and parties, absolutely everything about them! That would certainly include the new magazine called Bliss Celebrations. This is a new publication that highlights everything fantastic about the wonderful world of entertaining. It focuses on color themed events, paying close attention to details, and so much more. The pages are filled with fabulous inspiration for whatever event that you are planning.

As a matter of fact, a couple of weddings that we’ve designed this past season were featured in the guide. This past July 4th weekend we were in Woods Hole, Massachusetts designing a stunning nautical themed wedding. Not one detail was overlooked at this magnificent affair. Take a look at what the magazine had to say:

The bride and groom of the next featured wedding did not let the rain spoil their special day. The storm clouds of Hurricane Earl rolled in just as this happy couple was about to say their vows. However, they took advantage of the storm clouds and used them as the perfect addition to their photos. All the details of this event held at OceanCliff in Newport, RI were planned by the wonderful Alexis from Unique Weddings by Alexis. See the three-page spread for yourself!

While the last feature was not a wedding, it was nothing short of extravagant. Club Zilla was created for the very special guest being honored at her Bat Mitzvah. Rhode Island Country Club was the setting for this spectacular celebration planned by the incredible Wendy Joblon.

So whether you are planning a wedding, a party, or any other event, we really think you should consult the new publication Bliss Celebrations! You won’t be disappointed!

A Lovely Surprise

This was such a lovely morning. I had just taken the first sip of my delicious latte and logged on Facebook. Much to my surprise, there was a notification letting me know that we were featured today on The Ebury Collection’s blog. It’s a fabulous site from the United Kingdom’s own Hannah Gooch. On her site she showcases everything “for your perfect wedding” by highlighting style ideas and vendors.

Her posting today was all about another one of our favorite couples, Sarah and Kyle Hinchey. Their Tuscan-Inspired celebration took place at Belle Mer’s Island House in Newport, RI. From Sarah’s gorgeous bouquet of creamy white Lily of the Valley, to their ceremony arrangements that perfectly framed the couple as they said their vows, all the way to their beautiful Tuscan tables for their reception – we loved it all! These fabulous images were taken by Kristin Spencer Photography and the incredible lighting was provided by Ormonde Productions. This event was planned by one of our favorite event planners, Donna Kim,  of  The Perfect Details.

Hot Off the Press

While recently standing in line at the store, I perused the pages of the Fall 2010 issue of  Inside Weddings, and it was quite a thrill to find a 10-page spread of a gorgeous wedding that we designed for one of our favorite couples, Jill and Jeff Wilhelm.           Jill and Jeff exchanged their vows in October of 2009 during an elegant outdoor ceremony at the Glen Manor House in Portsmouth, RI. The creamy white blossoms of the ceremony contrasted perfectly against rich deep fall palette of green, chocolate, cranberry, and antique peach for their indoor reception. It truly created an ideal setting for the happy couple.

Not a single detail was overlooked by Jill and Jeff on their wedding day. The creamy white bed of rose petals running down the aisle, the eye-catching kiwi branch place card arrangement, stunning tablescapes, and so many other details created the most magical day. Take a look for yourself!

Featured Wedding: A Midsummer Night’s Dream

This extremely special celebration was a floral and event designer’s dream! The amazing client, the heady concept, the inspirational surroundings – we’d be hard pressed to ask for more!

On a perfect, late August afternoon the nuptials were exchanged under a massive Oak. What about these two angels  (in addition to a cannon blast!) to start things off:

The Ringbearer had a custom Dupioni pillow tied with a bow to match his orange tie!

Cerise and Tangerine – perfect “pop” palette! We re-purposed the large pieces later in the dinner tent…

Gardens everywhere!!! Guests meandered to the formal one – where the music and libations flowed…

Gorgeous…. And we so loved making this “just picked” bouquet full of summer’s best New England garden fare.

It was exactly as she always dreamed it would be…

Long wooden Tuscan farm tables were graced with our canopies of birch and vines – dripping with hanging votives….

Mossy pots overflowed with garden flowers – with wooden lanterns and votives to punctuate each lush meandering tablescape.

Oak, maple and bittersweet  above- all clipped from the woods – had focal points of zinnia and snap.

Letterpress Menus and Table Numbers…

For the dinner tent we wanted a casual “al fresco” dinner under the stars. A clear-topped tent was the perfect choice -set in a wooded clearing – the canopy of trees surrounding it brilliantly lit by our lighting team.

The effect after dark is something guests will never forget.

Rustic chicken with sage….

But of course – dancing hasn’t even begun!  Pie is served in the sexy lounge tent where a band plays till midnight….

When the LA DJ takes over, the lights go down and the gyrations don’t stop till well after dawn!

Whew. Just amazing. We loved every minute of it!!!!
